Polo 6C 1.0 TSI - 1.8 TSI (BAJA) conversion

Post by HoloSpec »

Hi guys, new here.

I was hoping someone could help me understand how difficult it would be to put a 1.8 tsi engine (BAJA) from the Polo 6c GTI in a 2017 Polo 6c 1.0 tsi.

What else besides the engine and transmission would need to be changed like the ecu, engine mounts etc?

(Not planning on going DSG btw, would just change the 5 speed for a 6 speed manual.)

Thanks in advance.

Is much cheaper, more reliable and will be easier come sell time not to build what you can buy.
Sell the TSI and buy a GTI.

Best advice ever. Trade in the 1.0 TSi and it will get a buyer who appreciates it and have fun with the Polo GTi, although bit hard to find in manual transmission. Good luck

I stumbled upon my manual 6C GTI by chance - apparently less than 30 manual ones were sold during their run between 2016 and early 2018. I would highly advise to look for one - building something that is already out there would surely cost a lot more, and when you want to sell you will have to look for a very specific buyer who will appreciate what you built.

I can't agree with all the previous posts more.

To drive our point home I will ask you to search for ChrisFZ. Find and read the thread about his Caddy. He has in my humble opinion the best looking Caddy in this country by far. I would compare it on par with Jamie Orr's one in the USA. Possibly even better than.

Ask him what he has spent to date on mods. Bear in mind he does much of the work himself unless it's paint and bodywork. I would bet that the figure is eye watering.

If you have the money to do something at that same level, then go for it. Follow your dream.

Post lots of pictures.
