TDI injectors

Post by FrancoisMK2 »

Good morning everyone.
Hoping someone here could help.

After replacing just about everything on my 1.4tdi BNV polo it ended up being faulty injectors.

Can someone perhaps tell me if the 1.9tdi polo 74kw uses the same injectors? Cant find stock of the 1.4tdi injectors but 1.9tdi injectors are a dime a dozen.

Can i for instance use 2x 1.9 74kw and 1x 1.4 50kw injectors?

The PD injectors can be refurbished.

I am not certain they are interchangeable, but they all have the same physical dimensions.

My advice is to get the faulty ones out and take them to a reputable diesel shop and get them tested.

Not all shops are set up with the proper test equipment for the much loved PD injectors, so call first and check.

Maybe also give Panic a call and ask him who he recommends.

U cannot mix and match them because the difference in part numbers mainly determine the CC of the injector.

U need to fit them according to the part number.

For example
1. 038 130 073AL is a 96kw injector 550cc
2. 038 130 073AG is a 74kw injector 425cc
And there are a whole lot more.

So look at what part number u have, and replace the faulty ones with the same part number.

U can however change the whole set, but then u would need the fueling to be adjusted on the software, in other words a remap.

The 1.4tdi also has 425cc injectors which is why i asked if they will work. The 1.4 is a 3 cylinder same bore and stroke as 1.9 just one cylinder less.

Instead of using 4x 425cc injectors its got 3.

Both 1.4 and 1.9 74kw have 425cc injectors but different part numbers not sure why. They practically identical except for the part number....

Also if you take 59kw ÷ 3 then times it by 4 it makes in theory the same power as the 74kw.

Most parts shops also list that the 1.9 74kw injectors is a direct replacement for the BNV motor.

So im asking here to be sure.

038130073BP
038130073BM are the part numbers for the 1.4tdi.

Got no idea on the tuning part of it, but there are some pid or something like that which is different amongst them and requires adjustments on the tune. A tuner would be able to advise best since they work more directly with this.

The nozzle may be the same but the solenoids are not.

Again, for example
The 1.9tdi sportline has AL injectors which is rated 550cc and the seat cupras have BJ injectors which are also 550cc but they still don't work 100% if swapped either way. Been there done that.

A 1.4tdi motor is already quite an imbalanced engine being a 3cyl, if the injector doesn't work out its just gonna make things worse.

Check with Tyrone at SR Tuned, he done a good few remaps on injector swaps for me.

Hi there
Many thanks for the help.
Tyrone told me the BNV 59kw motor uses 465cc and not 425cc injectors. Its the 1.4tdi 50kw that uses 425cc.

He said its best to go for the 550cc injectors as its an upgrade and will make slighty more power once it's been mapped.

Now to find 550cc injectors

U gonna find a set of 4, most people wouldn't want to break a set.

I have 3x BA injectors 530cc, off an audi AVF / Seat BLT / Sharan ASZ. Will let them go for 5k.

If u interested, whatsapp me. 074 221 6363

Hallo everyone.

I just want some tips on tuning my car

I’ve called some tuners regarding to a stage 2 tune on the car but they say it won’t be possible because the internals of the car is to small and that I will be burning pistons and that the injectors will brake . Can anybody give me some tips on what’s the best tune I can do for car without breaking anything?
