Hey guys!

This weekend I resprayed my gear 'cover' for my auto.

The chrome didn't really fit in with the rest of the car and it was scratched badly from previous owners. It is also a major finger print magnet!

ps. Sorry for the dirty carpets etc, still have a lot of things around from the headliner replacement.

The problem (I smudged everything with my finger to exaggerate!):

Finally got the gear lever of and the cover out. Here you can see all the scratches.:

Sanded with 200 then 800 grit. Ready for pain. I prefer Rustoeleum:

Painted inside then placed in the sun for curing:

All the parts cleaned and ready for reassembly. See how much better that looks?:

All done!:

Thanks for reading! Any feedback and suggestions welcome!

Nice one bud, I would have personally gone for a brushed alu vinyl wrap... But this also looks good.

I must confess, I tried some black vinyl I had lying round first... But I am very bad at vinyl wrapping, I always struggle with the corners and applying the right amount of heat. Will need to visit someone to teach me how to do it properly and see how it needs to be done with my own eyes.

Until then, spray paint. :D

Brilliant job Herco!

Do you have instructions on how you got the gear shifter knob off that you could share please?
