Meet & Greet suggestions

Hi All,

We as KZN comm are always looking at getting more members involved, so we would like to hear from you regarding the kind of stuff you guys would like to do. Now we have done something similar in the past, but we've found that we have a fresh crowd of guys, so it's time for change :hi:

We would like to start off with suggestions for meet and greet venues. The purpose of these events are to hold a social gathering for newer members to get to know the regulars, as well as kick back, have a good chat and usually a nice chow. They aren't specifically centered around cars, although we've incorporated it in the past with a M&G/Photoshoot.

So feel free to comment with some suggestions :hi:

Hooters NUR
Gateway or another Roof Top Parking photoshoot.
Dyno Night @ Autotrix/Stealth cap to 30 Entries maybe - small gathering
Cars & Coffee @ Petroport
Park off at Westbrook Beach for the North Guys
Not familiar with the south of Durban but would need some options for them as well

Thanks Dazz, some very good suggestions

I think the dyno is more of an event though... which coincidentally is our next one

What about one of those M&G where we all come together and talk about the KZN region and ideas for the year so everybody can give input? Or is that done on a Comm Level?

Generally part of our comm meetings, we did put a thread up last year asking for suggestions but nothing really came of it. Would be a cool idea though.

Getting more people to the events is gonna be hard. There too many "clicks" and watsapp groups have ruined the forum. The M&G's of 2012 used to rock!

This is a good idea IMO. But I think that ship has sailed for 2015. Ideally something like this could happen in Nov/Dec this year for next year. In Jhb this sort of thing would be amongst the Comm, but I think given the small constituency of Durban members, and the difficulty in pleasing everyone, it would be good to get everyone interested together to provide their input for the upcoming year.

The downside, is the Durban okes just generally DGAF, and a handful of people will pitch up.

I agree. The M&G's that I attended in 2012 at Volksie were awesome.

Are you waiting for your member pack still? If so, PM me your size, and collect from me at the next event. I will sort out the en route pack with Jhb,

KZN gents, I urge you to please post your thoughts here. This is your oppurtunity to indicate your preferences. In the past there have always been people complaining about using the same venues, or the chosen venue being to far. Unless you provide input, you have no place to complain later.

I shall provide accommodation for several ... and raffle two bus tickets. Plus I'll throw in a gatsby as chow.
Come for Homeward Bound this year, place it in the schedule. We must talk

I never say no to beach bums.

Also, R103 up to Piggly Wiggly is always a nice drive. A bit long/far for a M&G, but just a suggestion.

Thanks for allowing us to give suggestions, I'm A bit low on ideas right now, cant think of any scenic places in KZN, this might be a common one, but How about an evening Meet & Greet/Shoot at Macdonalds/Burger King - umhlanga?

This is more like an annual event the comm should look at fitting into the calender: organize a charity run one day. bring an old teddy or what have you, drive in convoy to the charity of choice. hand over teddies to the kiddies, give them a small prepared snack (hot dog rolls and juice?) bright smiles. happy faces. a good way to spend the day. but we need numbers to make this happen :hi:

Maybe not a Meet & Greet, but perhaps a Sunday morning brunch run?

We did the evening Photoshoot last year. It was at Gateway and most ou's grabbed some McDonalds while we were snapping pics. We will plan something similar later this year.

The club used to try and have at least 1 charity event each year. Last year we didn't have anything. It was a bit of a tough year for Comm (losing 2 experienced Comm members) and some planning wasnt done.

I did try to organise what I hoped would be an epic Toy Run late last year. In my last week working at Game HO I had spoken to the CSI head to see if the club could partner with GAME/ECR for a club Toy Run. She was quite keen and was even willing to get us some air time on ECR before the run, and have a live switch over at the end of the run. Unfortunately, nothing came of it as I left the company the next week, and she never got back to me. The Comm has discussed the GAME/ECR Toy Run and we will be doing something around this in 2015.

We still have space for another charity event. The club has some funds which are ringfenced for a charity events, which we will try plan for the 2nd half of the year. My first year in the club we went to a shelter and renovated part of it. It could be something as hands on as that, or a winter blanket drive, where the club matches each donation made by members. As Comm we are always open to ideas and input.

Sounds good. The R103 is nice and twisty and the scenery, in good weather, is lekker too. :driving:
