Hi Laiton,

No Solutions - took the car in when I had a chance but did not have tht time to test drive with the Foreman.

He tested and said he tightened the suspension. Noise is still there.

I need to go back and drive with them.

Yes it is annoying. Mine is more evident on the lft side

Just collected my car from VW. They replaced my driver's side windscreen wiper (will have to test if that fixed the smear problem), topped up my oil plus coolant and unlocked the Advanced Settings option on the radio (they do not do a software upgrade). Reception seems to have improved a lot.

Next visit to VW will be for the waste gate clip and to check the suspension noise.

Hi Vanesh

Thanks for the reply. My noise is also more evident on the left hand side. I have heard that it could be a "door lock" adjustment but I suspect that it is supension related. Please let me know if you hear anything more as my dealership is nothing short of useless.

Details of radio update? What do I ask them for? Car is going in on Wed for 2000km checkup.

I recommend you phone your dealership to check with VWSA regarding the radio fix. VWSA is well aware of this now and should send the information on to you dealer.

Same software version as before:

New menu item:

New AF and RDS options:

I don't have the advanced options for my radio, but hardware and software seems to be newer.

Also played around with station logos.

I suspect it is a setting they change using VCDS. So it does not really matter what hardware/software you have. I first noticed the advanced settings menu item missing when I read through my radio's manual. They have a whole page on it in there but it was missing form my radio. Seems like they disable it for certain regions but no clue why.

PS: I also have my station logos loaded. Makes the screen look much more colourful. Also once VW enables the advanced settings menu you will have the station names there where the frequency is displayed under the logos.

You copy the images to a SD card and insert it into the slot under the CD player. Then you can select the images as logos for your radio stations.

I updated the radio station logos again. OCD. Was a little annoyed with the blocks around some logos and the quality thereof. So, I went to the German VW site to see exactly what size/bit level/transparency the logos are supposed to be (160x120, 32bit, .png, transparency allowed). I think these look a little better?

I uploaded a .zip with all the well known radio stations for SA if anybody else would like to use them.

Morning Guys,

Have had the car since Wednesday evening, what can i say? WOW, this car is trully a cut above the rest, interestingly enough, i don't have the smear from the winsdsreen wiper nor the suspension noise every one is talking about, especially when going on uneven surfaces and speed humps, i suppose this will probably come later, maybe, hope not. Interesting thing about the radio software though i'm going to send this to my dealer and see if he can sort it out with a quick pop in this afternoon. Anything else i should ask them to check???

Also, this car is so quiet can't hear the engine, no wind noise almost dangerous now cause i'll fall asleep. The fuel consumption is rediculous, put 50 litres in on Saturday drove around a bit, then yesterday went to Francshoek, villiersdorp and Grabouw, drove 390kms and the info is telling me i still have 490km range on the tank, that is amazing seriously between 800-900km on 50 litres and if i was going long distence i'd love to know what i would get then. Wasn't driving like miss daisy either, mixed driving, through the pass in this car is WOW, talk about beautiful handling. Sunroof is really a must have in this car, all i can say is for once i've made the right choice!!

This is how it should look on the screen:

Line 1: Station name or frequency (depends on the radio station or if you enabled radio text)
Line 2: Station message (usually the song title)
Line 3: Station logos (blank logos if not set)
Line 4: Station names or frequencies (if you do not have the advanced settings enabled this will only show frequencies)
