sbu.mah, if I may ask, what made you go with a plug and play option in the end?
At the time most tuners didn't have software for mk7 highline, only thing could find was PnP

Hi DarkRanger
As you can see that enquiry was done couple of months ago
First I want to do a dyno, to compare the race-chip claimed gains against anything out there
Value for bucks it's always the 1st thing to look at in

Not trying to argue but you asked for software on 03 Jul, response was given on the 07 Jul.
Then, you responded to that on 31 Jul and I answered same day. What I'm trying to say is we had software available and if memory serves it was R3500
How much did you pay for your Chip?

We on the same page, been using the chip since 2013 - hence I am saying at that point in time (2013), couldn't find any tuning software.
Fast forward to an enquiry made - Racechip claims the gains of up to 132kw and 315nm (wonder if that has been proven or just a hogwash)
My concern with PnP is that most of them are not tailor made for a specific model but more of one size fits all approach. Hence will prefer going the software route but something that will offer reasonable gains.
So coming back to the gains you listed on your response vs racechip claimed gains. Racechip ultimate offer more but way too pricey, got it for 4 grand, had to bargain (retail price R6500) vs R3500 grand

Theres a weird noise coming from the engine bay when going up an incline. Really loud and annoying, anyone ever experienced this?

You'd have to be more specific than that

I have a sound clip of the noise. I have no idea what it is, sort of a rattle noise. Sent the car to VW, they installed a clip on the wastegate thinking that would solve the issue but it didn't.
The noise occurs when I drive up an incline such as my driveway as I press the accelerator. Normally at low speed (around 10km/hr).
Apparently it is coming from the engine bay/transmission tunnel up front on the passenger side according to VW Alberton.

Is it a whining noise shakes? Something like your car is halfway in a gear (think of a manual)

Yep aomar it is a whinning noise. Funny enough when VW unplugged the ABS unit to test it stopped, but they say it isn't the ABS thats faulty.

Hey guys,
I have a brand new G7 GTI DSG. (picked it up on tuesday).
So last night i took the car out on the highway for the first time.
I noticed a slight intermittent vibration that only happens in 6th gear when the car is under load, ie. when at around 120km/h and accelerating on an uphill.
It doesn't happen every time, but sometimes a slight vibration can be felt when doing this. (the RPM at this point is around 2200-2300rpm.)
What i want to know is if this is normal due to the gear ratio's on the GTI, could the vibration be caused because i should be in a lower gear, or is this something else?
Thanks in advance.

Yep aomar Similar noise. Apprarently according to VW it is the alternator, they mentioned something about a clutch type mechanism on the alternator that wears out and could be that. The service advisor indicated that he had a polo tsi with the same issue. So I'm waiting for the part to arrive and then see. If it does not work I will nag till they replace the gearbox

will do. They ordered the alternator, waiting for that then will test and see if the noise disappears

Just an update
So VWSA said it was the water pump not the alternator. Still making that noise. I must say they are a bunch of id*ots. 4 months of this and no one can figure out whats wrong. The dealership and service manager aren't much help either

Daytime run lights
I have a Golf 1.4 TSI DSg with the Rline kit - i have the Rline kit with the headlights below. When i activate daytime run lights, only the outer light goes on, the inner remains off. Any idea how to activate the inner light?

Only the Proper R runs both sets of DRLs. All other models only the main light and a park light.
I stand under correction but the R-Line kit is body kit and wheels...
