Golf 7 TSI/TDI Owners Discussion Corner

VIKAR6 wrote:Quick question for the guys with the 1.4 TSi - What sort of mileage are you getting on a tank?

I have 18's on my car and am still getting 900+ in town driving and 1000+ on long trips
On an Urban cycle my wife gets around the same as I get with my GTi 6 - around 530-550km. Her distances are frequent and super short. 3-4kms about 4/5 times a day.

On longer distances we get closer to 850km (120-140km/h) whereas my GTI does closer to 650-700km on the open road.

Her car is manual and very stock.

just wow...that's what i would call spectacular gas mileage.
i would say my average is more like 800 to a tank and if i get lucky then close to 900km for a tank.
i have the 17" OEM gti wheels which came on some gti's for some reason...most got 18" austin wheels.
is your car manual or dsg?
which 18" wheels do you have?...are they perhaps superbly light weight wheels?

1.4 Tsi Petrol

I fill my tank as and when needed from Sunday to now I have done 260km and have a range of 690km left and the fuel gauge is just below full.

Just wanted to compare with other cars because I find this excellent and hope others are getting as good consumption

I have a manual which if im honest I drive the **** out off at times

I have S-Class reps on the car - actually quite heavy :bang: didn't realize till I carried one last week

I have had the car from June 2013 and never really looked and my consumption but since I moved to JHB in July 2014 - I noticed how much I actually spend on fuel and its just amazing what this car is giving me considering I have the 18's and a sub setup

Is yours manual or DSG, mine is DSG and generally they are a little heavier on fuel than manual.

Alas, my fogs are cracked

The funny thing is that both left and right fogs have exactly the same damage.
Does not seem like stone damage as it is still smooth to the touch.

I did have lamix over the fogs and there was no damage on this either.
I always though that the laminx was cracked but after removed, i discovered that it was actually the fog that's cracked.

I was just wondering, could it be due to the lamix retaining heat that both fogs cracked (kind of a shattered effect)???

Open the full size image so you can better see the damage.

My left fog has a small crack. Not really visible. Wonder how much they are to replace?

Been a while since my last post, so an update is due. I took my car to the Parow dealership this morning for a service and asked them to also check my suspension noise. Got a call later in the morning that my rear shocks will have to be replaced (no stock at the moment). This is the first dealership that I have taken my car to that actually found something wrong. Brought a smile to my face. Maybe I have found the right dealership for my future dealings.

And I spoke too soon. Went to collect my car and found my "Service Now" indicator to still be on. The dealership never serviced my car as they thought I only want them to check the suspension issue. :bang:

Good evening guys

I drive a G7 Highline. Two weeks ago they broke into my car and alarm didnt go off. They broke the window and it shattered then they kicked it in but no alarm or hazards went off.Car is currently with VW coz Im not happy with that alarm.I had a G6 before and that alarm definitely worked.I dont even know what the G7's sounds like.....

Do any of you have the same problem or concern?
