Shocks fitted but the noise is still there.

Personally i dont think they fitting the correct shocks, mine have a 31/5/2013 date on them.

Dealer says there is no part number on the TPI, it just says from now on the new shocks will be supplied. I think SA is way behind on this issue and dont even have the new shock in stock yet.

Wonder if i can get a full refund after 3500km?

Howdy, Bought the 2013 TSI DSG second hand with 44000km on the clock.
completely happy with the vehicle. It is going in tomorrow for its 45k service.
I have heard the wastegate rattle and have the radio issue. Touch wood nothing yet regarding the shocks.
Thanks to all the posts I will be highlighting these with the dealer tomorrow morning.

Oh sorry thought it was done, lol yeah the wastegate rattle is a clip and the radio should be a software update

Update from my dealer after threatening to return the car.

"The factory has come back and said that as per Germany they were supposed to clear the warehouse of the old stock and this was not done. The correct shocks are on back order and as soon as they arrive we will contact you and fit them to your vehicle."

Lets hope this sorts the rear suspension noise.

I took my Golf into the VW dealer to have my ignition fault fixed and they finally said that there was a TPI on the rear shock absorbers and they have them order and will fit them when the parts arrive. Gee after 6 months of complaining about this rear suspension noise I might get some action.

At least i can see the part number is different to what was fitted in my car. They fitted the old shocks to my car which made it even worse.

VaneshN & YusGTI6 the correct shocks are only on there way to SA now. Whatever they fitted before is incorrect. That's why we still have the problem. VWSA will let me know when the shocks arrive in the country.

Take note of the part number on rpps invoice, its different to the orginal.

Sorry my mistake i see the part number is for a switch not the shocks.

When they worked on my car they had said they followed the tpi and changed shocks to the revised part - guess not. This cars suspensionis reeeally noisy

2nd set of shocks fitted, this time with a 13/08/2014 date and same part number. Noise is still there!

Took there demo model for a ride, there salesman who drives the car says there is no suspension noise. Drove it around for a while and guess what it makes the same noises. I think ever golf 7 makes this noise and most people dont even know it as they never put there radios off.

Selling mine when its 1 year old.

If you want to hear this noise all the time, drive 20km on a rough/bumpy road.
Otherwise it tends to change for me @ 30km and 40km, then it sounds like the back boards are bouncing around but when u remove them, it still sounds like that.

So glad I sold mine when I did.. My new Audi A3 is just soooooo much better!

This is so sad that we pay good money for "Good" quality cars but get stuck with running to the dealer and they don't know what to fix.

I had my front shock mounts and bearings replaced but there is still a front suspension noise and I think it might be the driveshafts but dont have the time or energy to prove this. I read somewhere that the bearing that fits onto the gear box was the incorrect size.

Me neither and I also put on 18" rims and still no noise whatsoever

Got close to 40k on the clock and no suspension problems as yet.

I had my new shock absorbers fitted today the part No 5Q0513029DP according to the service invoice, on the way home I went slow over the same bumpy roads that use to give me grief and I was rapped the suspension was so quiet. In fact as soon as I started driving the car from the dealers workshop I could tell straight away that the suspension was so much quieter at last I have peace and quiet I just hope it stays this way. Must add I have been complaining about this problem for over 12 months now.

I have had my G7 GTi for just over three months now it had 40km's on the odo on delivery.

The car is absolutely stunning and have no issues with the radio. The suspension noise is there but I don't believe it will be the same problem as yours as the dealer states that it is not the same setup, I am currently investigating it. It only makes the noise when going over speed bumps not on the sand road I have to drive to gain access to my property.

Further to these problems on my dashboard between the two central air-vents I have the airbag light for the passenger airbag. In the first week of owning the car it functioned normally coming on and indicating the respective "on" or "off" position lighting. I have never seen the need to ever deactivate it.

However after a week or so the light is off completely.

I have phoned the dealer they cannot find any errors or problems on the VCDS and when the car goes in it doesn't do this they simply say i must disengage the airbag start the car turn it off and reactivate the airbag.

Just want to know if I am paranoid or not? I travel with passengers and would hate to be in an accident and the airbag does not deploy or something.

Additionally my only other issue with the car is that the mirrors do not fold in. I spent over R400k on my car with all the extras and so forth but no one allowed this to happen. My friend spend 150k on her Hyundai and it is a standard feature? VW seriously need to reconsider this.

The only reason this is an issue for me is the tight space on the garage and I am a teacher so the learners walk past the car in the parking lot and clip the damned things with their bags. Can like to have a heart attack when this happens.

Since having my shockers replaced the car is soooo much quieter now when going over speed humps or pot holed roads at slow speed. Ask your dealer to check for any TPI's (Technical Product Information) that may concern your vehicle, it's a simple check they can do over their computer.

Golf 7 rear suspension noise has been sorted out on my car. No noise for the last week over some very bumpy roads.
After telling them to take my car back, the dealer took a new car off the showroom floor for me to test. There was no noise on the new car, so they said they would take the shocks from the new car and fit them to mine.
The service manager however took out the whole shock assembly from both sides (This includes all mountings etc) and fitted them to my car.
Well after that my car was noise free and the new car has the noise in it now.

If you have this problem make sure they fit a left and right shock assembly not just new shocks. I had 2 x sets fitted and that did not work.

Glad this story is over with and i can now start enjoying the car.

GTI 7 owners... There is a TPI for the rear shocks on our cars..

My shock were ordered....currently on back order

Received a call from VW. Car needs to be brought in for a check on the brakes or something. Anybody else received a call regarding this?
