Good afternoon all
Below is the issue I have with the car
1: When I am In JHB I attach the MAF sensor and get boost all through the gears and rev range, No lights on the dash
2: Checked all piping no leaks, Valves for boost all good.
3: The minute I go to back home to KZN south coast I get to the bottom of Van Reenen's pass, NO more boost.
4: Take off the plug for the MAF sensor, Full boost all the way through the Revs.
5: If I take off the MAF plug it idles normally no change in revs, this is the same in JHB.
6: I use torque pro to monitor the boost and MAF sensors
Hope someone can assist
Thanks

When the MAF is unplugged do U get any fault codes?
Are any faults stored when the boost randomly "disappears"?
My guess is the car is tuned, and not done correctly according to different atmospheric pressures. That would be about the only thing that would cause an issue relating to elevation, unless the ambient pressure sensor is faulty which is built into the ECU - quite unlikely.
From my experience with tdis, if the maf is unplugged it will read data via the map sensor and run pretty much normal. Going up towards a different altitude probably causing a conflict between the MAF, MAP and Baron sensor which is putting the car into limp.
I don't think it's possible for a dirty maf to work in jhb and not in kzn, worth the check though. Generally a dirty maf causes boost issues, cannot read air at it's lower range which causes the engine to boost late. Maybe with a lower air pressure (jhb) it reacts differently, not too sure about that..

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on

Re: 2005 audi a4b7 BRE avant
Hi
Thanks a million for the feedback
I am also stumped.
I will try maybe borrow a MAF sensor and see if i plug it in at the coast and makes a difference,
I do get a fault code when i unplug the MAF sensor.
Will look into the issues again.
Thanks
