Hi all. I am considering buying a 2018 mk6 jetta 1.6 (petrol). I cant find much about this car online, just a few bits of info here and there.
If anyone can provide further info from experience with this specific engine (code: CLR) it would be greatly appreciated.
Its a bit of a bland vehicle but i like that it comes with 6 airbags, massive boot and decent oem head unit.
How is the fuel consumption on these motors? I dont live far from work (10km) but this means some of my cars tend to be quite thirsty.
Are these FSi engines? If yes, I would assume they can suffer from carbon build up?
How is the real world fuel consumption?
Any other common faults to be aware of?
Thank you

Re: Mk6 Jetta 1.6 (petrol)
Are you sure it's not CLS engine code?
The CLS in my polo 1.6 is very economical as well as reliable.
On my polo, easily managed bet 5.9 and 6.3lt per 100km on highway driving which was based on tank to tank fill up to auto stop.
On my shorter trips to work which was 6km each way, it used to consume around 6.5 to 7l per 100km. That car is now on 188k km with just regular services and only part replaced outside of that, was the warm up valve which sits beneath the intake manifold. This was around R400 from VW.
It currently does duty on highway driving and fuel consumption is pretty much the same as it's always being.
Boring cars however cost per km is good. I would imagine the jetta will be a bit higher on fuel consumption with the same engine

Yep, CLR engine. I am very familiar with the CLS and CLP engines, they are indeed relaible engines with decent fuel consumption.
