2014 TDi

Post by Kenneth.Roselt »

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum, and need some advise from the guys. I recently bought a 2014 1.6TDi and it drove well for the last year. The issue I am facing is that while driving on the Highway, I lost all power, and was able to pull off safely to the side (no lights nothing on dash).

The car was then towed to the house, and today the mechanic popped over, cleared fault codes (didn't see what they were) and the car started, idled and drove OK, no issue. Then I switched off, went to do some stuff, came back, and it will not start, after a few cranks of the engine, there is what looks like a glow plug light flashing, and as said no start, it swings the motor no isses, but will not start.

Now this light came on once or twice as I was on my way home from Volksrust to JHB, where the car lost power, and that light flashed, but I was able to restart the car, and carry on without issues. So I ignored it, thinking it was just a bug (at the time).

Any advise on what I can check here. No other lights on, just what looks like a coiled wire (glow plugs I think) ornage and flashing.

Thanks in advance.

Get car scanned and ask for the fault codes (before being cleared), that would be a great start. Perhaps also change mechanics as current one seems like a cowboy.....

Also goggle seems to say https://www.google.com/search?q=why+is+ ... e&ie=UTF-8

OK guys, so an update, I went throug the car fuel line, front to back, and found a "particle filter" I believe is it's name, in the fuel pump in the tank that was clogged, as a test, I removed that filter, and the car started, that filter was "blocking" the fuel line - So off to VW to get a new pump as I cannot find that particle filter sold separately.
