Guys, please verify if I coast my car it ruins the DSG box?> a friend of mine told me that I should never coast a DSG vehicle, I have been coasting and driving under 130km/hour and have been returning 6.3L / 100km, need to know if i should stop this practice? Nothing in the car manual states it damages the box. Any advice?

Re: Golf 7 TSI/TDI Owners Discussion Corner
I need advice from someone who had their Golf VII serviced and the wiper and radio issues sorted.
My car is in for it's first service today at Barons Bellville and I've just received a call to say the wiper issue is the blade, but that is isn't covered under warranty as it a service item and regarding the radio software update (Composition Media), they said there is the SD card, as someone mentioned before, that needs to be ordered from the factory, but this also apparently isn't a warranty issue and that it's for my account at over R1000!
Am I wrong in feeling a little agitated here, or is this the norm?

My wiper blade was replaced and my radio software updated at no cost. Not sure if this is because I have a maintenance plan but you should not be paying for something that came broken from the factory in any case.gorman wrote:I need advice from someone who had their Golf VII serviced and the wiper and radio issues sorted.

I had my radio software updated at no cost. I was told that the dealer can order it under inventory (or similar) as they will use it more than just once. Haven't had the wiper replaced yet, but think I will soon, after all the rain we've had up in Gauteng.gorman wrote:I need advice from someone who had their Golf VII serviced and the wiper and radio issues sorted.

Hi Dawie, did they upgrade your radio with the SD card? Did it resolve the issues?
I feel a little bit better now after I've received another call...they will be replacing the wiper as a goodwill claim and the SD card will be ordered and the software updated at their expense - the reasoning being that they will be able to re-use it for other customers as well. So, all is well!

Yes the reception is better. The radio switches properly between the two internal antennas now. However the reception will never be as good as with an external antenna.gorman wrote:Hi Dawie, did they upgrade your radio with the SD card? Did it resolve the issues?

I currently leave it in D/S however on long hills I slot it into N and roll down the hill, the car actually goes faster because its not in gear and it doesnt use fuel (coasting)
but was told by a friend it damages the gearbox.

Re: Golf 7 TSI/TDI Owners Discussion Corner
For automatic gearboxes, it's not good to shift out of drive into neutral as the whole system has to disengage and reengage each time, and will result in premature wear. BUt for DSG, I don't see how putting the box into neutral will be a problem. The clutches should be disengaged when the car is stopped anyway. I've also seen a slight improvement in instantaneous consumption when shifting into neutral when stopped, but not much really.
As for coasting, from what I recall the car has a fuel cutoff valve that works when in drive and coasting. If you put it into neutral, the vavle does not function, so you will likely actually use more fuel.

Re: Golf 7 TSI/TDI Owners Discussion Corner
Hi,
What are all the current, known issues on the TSi?
1. Radio reception issues. Which radio?
2. Waterleak on roof lining-Rear
3. Some dealerships forgets to remove transit stops
4. Faulty wiper blade
5. Wastegate clip rattle
What else?
I just applied for finance on one and would like to request them to sort this before delivery.

Re: Golf 7 TSI/TDI Owners Discussion Corner
So picking up my Pacific Blue Comfortline around 2. And on my way home, will pickup a new Galaxy S5. Double whammy for me today.
Can't wait. I feel like a kid again.
