Touareg roof leak

Post by andor »

Have a Touareg 2012 TDi.

Panoramic roof leaks on two spots front right at the joint of the pillar and roof and back left at the similar spot.

Was complaining to VW service all 5 years while it was in maintenance, they "fixed" it at least 3 times and it never stopped leaking.

I am now out of maintenance and with the help of some friend panel beaters stripped the interior completely down to find out what is the cause.

It forms drops of water at the very corners of the sunroof frame, so it is not connected with clogged pipes (as the water runs through them). Next step would be to dismantle the panoramic roof itself but I am not confident to do it on my own.

Is there anywhere in SA some specialist for sunroofs who would be able to diagnose the exact problem and to fix it?

Thank you in advance on any comment.

Only way I have heard of is to have the pano roof removed, all the old bonding glue removed, then have it rebonded.

I don't know of any place in SA, but maybe a decent sunroof installer can possibly help.
Best to contact installers and ask as VW will most likely charge you a few body parts to do it.
