Help needed with vcds

Hi guys so as the topic says, I need help with vcds. I bought an original vcds cable from VAG Cafe... hex-v2. Downloaded software, registered and everything but when I plug it into the vehicle and want to use it to scan or do anything it says NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER. Tried it on my s3 and my 6gti but it says the exact same thing...Does any1 have a clue why this is happening or experienced this issue?

1) are you switching the key to acc ?
2) take it back to bag cafe and tell them it's faulty

Yes tried on 2 cars that where on idle
And yes taking it back on Monday. spoke to shaun this morning.
