Black smoke

Post by Ngaka »

I drive 2014 polo 1.2 tsi comfort line currently at 95+km. I bought it in May this year as second hand. A week later it started emitting black smoke and I took to vw workshop and they told me its just a cold start and lasts only for 10 seconds.
This is the first time I am experiencing such behavior on the car. I have 2011 mazda 3 and 2016 np200 never seen such a thing called cold start that causes black smoke.
The black smoke m referring to is visibly thick and is sometimes visible even when the car is completely warm.
Is this normal on these cars? If not what can be done to clear black smoke?

black smoke is over fueling and could be due to the following:

-Boost leaks
-turbo failure
-injectors
-egr valve
-dpf

on start up a little puff of black smoke is fine but if it smokes constant then its not normal .

Take it to an RMI accredited independent workshop, there's nothing normal with a car blowing thick black smoke.

With VW stealerships everything is normal until something catastrophic happens

Lindsay Saker Bloem is one of the better dealerships in my opinion. I can't think of any reputable RMI guys in Bloem though perhaps @Chucker2.0 can chip in, I hope you get it sorted :hi:

Nope, no one I can recommend. How long does the smoke bellow out the exhaust and when exactly?

Thanks for replies.... literally the smoke comes come whenever I restart the car of which I dont have a problem with that. The problem is the thickness of the smoke continuing to blow even when the car is fully warmed up.
