Anti-hijacking features in Mk4 or any post-2000 cars?

Post by VAG Fan »

I've been wondering, ever since I got my Mk4 in 2016, whether these generation 4-7 cars actually have any type of anti-hijacking feature (other than the automatically locking doors). I can't think of any. Am I missing something?

The aftermarket security system in my old Audi had a feature that was activated by any door opening, and would immobilise the car 1 or 2 minutes later, if not re-set.

Sure, there is a fancy transponder in the key, but that sort-of defeats the purpose, because the key remains in the ignition if a car gets hijacked. I can happily open the door and continue driving.

Can anyone point me to some reading, or give me further info?
