Did you install the usb to serial driver for that converter on your laptop? If so you need to go to the usb settings in device manager and set the COMM port and baud rate to the same as the baud rate specified on Gotech. Same applies for the serial port on old laptop. COMM port and baud rate set on laptop must match what is selected on Gotech software selection.

Hi Thanks for the reply
Yes I have done that, installed the drivers on two different converters
Yes I have check the settings device manager
Bit per second : 19200
Data bits: 8
stop bits: 1
Flow control: None

This is the settings on the gotech software when trying to connect

COM1-10 19200,n,8,1

Just to clarify, did you set both to eg, COM3 to have like for like COM port name? COM3 on laptop and then COM3 selected on software.

There is only comms when ecu is powered.

The thing is on the software it scans through all the COM ports but does not dectect anything.
There is no place where i can define the port like on the dictator software
Name of the software is Dealer tune

Whats your computer serial port number?
It should be between 1 & 10 for software to pick it up. Usually after installing the drivers the serial port will pick the available number and you can manually set it to COM 2/3/& etc.

I hope that helps. Its pretty easy to connect to Gotech via serial

just go the gotech themselves and let them test the box. no use trying a 100 different things and the box is actually blown.
