Affordable Xenons

Post by Duan »

Hi Guys,

I have been quoted R 3500 for a single Xenon bulb with part number: 10566103 for my VW CC.

Does anyone know where I can get a slightly more reasonable price?

Thanks

Presumably you got that quote from your local VW agent?

There are more affordable options out there, but you will have to do a bit of research. Start by typing in the part number into Google and see what it spits out. Also research bulb manufacturers such as Philips, Osram, etc for options that might be applicable to your car.

Start by figuring out what type of globe it is (D3R/D4S/etc), then hunt around for that. IIRC the CC takes a D1S, try places like Breno Parts, should be in the R1000-R1200 ballpark. I know Philips sells those locally
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

We bought Phillips or Hella xenon globes from Goldwagen, Johannesburg specifically, for a MkIF Tiguan last year at around a third of the price that VW quoted.

You looking for a D1S (model) Xenon Bulb. If you in a rush your local Goldwagen (great service from Delarey) , from DBN JABSPORT is your man and will courier or I'm in Benoni but also courier.

Hella 4300K R667 each
Philips XenonVision R750 each
Philips WhiteVision R1130 each
Eurolamp R690 a set

Look for pricing close to the above as its a good deal then . Your OEM is Philips or Osram

Thanks Kavi,

I am trying to stick to OEM spec, so I guess the Philips WhiteVision is what I am after?.

I am in Midrand and not in a huge hurry. Would you mind PMing me your contact details?

Thanks!

Bringing this one up from the dead.

I stumbled across their FB page earlier and have contacted them for pricing. Lots of followers but always great to hear positive input from forumites instead.

I asked this on another thread; is the difference in quality between the Osrams and others that great to justify the price difference?

VW Rivonia quoted me (telephonically) R8k to replace bulbs. I'm lazy not stupid.

Yes there's a difference in quality between the OEM brands like Osram/Phillips etc and the no name stuff that violet stock. No,it's not worth paying the dealer 8k when you can get those same OEM bulbs much cheaper from Diesel Electric or Goldwagen.

The no name brand bulbs will work just fine, btw, but I try not to cheap out on safety related items.

That's good advice. I do prefer to stick to quality parts, however, I'm trying to rationalise in my mind whether it's safety or silliness spending 2500ish instead of 800?

Btw, I called a couple of Goldwagen branches and it seems they don't stock Osram's. Diesel Electric quoted me R1200 each ex vat. Is that a fair price?

Between Hella and Osram with about R200-400 difference what would be the better option?

Hopefully this is the last question.

On the Golf 6, I've seen videos where guys need to loosen the passenger side headlight housing to get enough room to change out the globe.

Is this the best method or is there an easier approach?
