Worth getting coilies?

Post by silverstone »

Gents
I have a g6 tsi. 18's and lowered with eibach pro kit. Ride is as comfy as stock..and i dig that fact.whilst it has a decent less than 2 finger allround drop.im happy...has been since i did this 2 years ago.
But now my shocks (monroe reflex)needs replacing as the road i drive weekly got even worse with all the rain. Question is... Upgrade shocks...like Koni"strt, or for sme price get coilies (Jom ,FKs). Note.. i doubt i will drop more than the 30mm i hav with the eibach. So i assume thats the minimum drop the coilies give...thus it should be comfortable and good. But is it worth buying if thats all i want? Or will a new set of normal shocks (reflex, gabriels, b4 billstein) work
Please give insight guys

The Monroe reflex shocks are actually pretty damn nice. In terms of valving I would see them as better than the entry level options from those you have mentioned.

If you dont want to go lower then stick in some replacement shocks and call it a day.

Get what u saying Killerwatt.so thats it then... Comes down to basically one question.. How low?
But im still not sold. If the reflex comes out waaaaay cheaper then thats the choice. But if all is around the same price..id say its worth asking some questions.
One being... Since coilies are pretty much matched coils + shocks, at 30mm drop (actually no drop at all),doesnt it challenge the eibach in comfort? Or equal stock ride/comfort,but lowered height?I have R5k to spend. If coilies is better option then i can sell kit and add that to the budget. Installation is seperate..

Coilover by nature of thenspring design will never be as comfortable as a proper regular drop spring and normal shock. Anybody claims that has very elective or very short memory.

Coilovers will never be as comfy as your current setup, especially the cheaper ones you mention. If you are happy with your height and you are after comfort splash on the best shocks you can buy, seeing as you have been running this setup for almost 2 years I would think that the new shocks will drastically improve the feel in any case.

Cant knock the BC coilovers for ride comfort.

Personally i have opted for coilovers everytime where it allowed (no coilies on the Q7) and im happy with them.
