alarm triggered

Post by Shane De Funk »

Hi guys.

Im very new to this forum. I have a 2006 vw citi golf 1. I used my car to charge my van battery which did not end up holding charge. I left the car with the battery for about 2 hours and when I put my original battery back in, My alarm went into trigger mode.

once I connect the battery the alarm immediately sounds and my indicators flash. The red alarm light on the rev counter flashes. The remote now does not work at all.

I have tried numerous methods but have had no luck.

please guys help me.

No sir. This alarm system comes factory fitted with the car and it has central locking as well. The remote is part of the key.

Really appreciate your feedback thus far.

Did you try to reset, by pressing the button on the key? Wind down one of your windows (say driver side) Close all doors and bonnet and then use key to lock and unlock the doors. Then do the same with the button on the key. your alarm should rest then. Reason for leaving one window open is that if you cannot open the doors, you can stick your hand through the open window to open. Battery must be connected and bonnet closed as well.

Hope it helps.

Try this.

Disconnect battery.
Locate alarm box and unplug the plugs.
Reconnect plugs to alarm box and reconnect battery and then try to reset alarm.

Guys ive had a guy come out and he ran a diagnostics on the car. It picked up that the alarm controller box is faulty. He managed to disable the alarm system completely so I can use the car until I get a new box.

I will however post the final result here once the car is sorted out.

Thank you guys for assisting.

Hi guys I have tried all the methods mentioned here and no luck. My must admit my car has been a bit neglected due to finances so the central locking has been removed, but the bonnet and boot switch still worked.

Long story short the batteries died on my remote and then the car battery went flat. After charging the battery and getting new batteries for the remote the car went into some sort off lock mode. Key does not disarm the alarm any advice on how I can fix this please.
