Citi Golf Higher After Fitting New Shocks

Post by Herschel »

Hi

I recently fitted new rear shocks on my CiTi Golf.I have a N-Force 60/40 drop, but after fitting the new rear shocks, the car is quite a bit higher than it was before.
It's the 1st time i come across something like this. :bang: :bang:

Has anyone had this problem before?

Its the Base plate issue

Had the same problem and had to get shocks from VW direct.

The base plate on new shock is higher pushing the car higher.

What did you measure exactly? the overall lenght or the distance from the lower mounting point to the spring seat?

I measured the shock, the shaft length as well as the section where the base plate sits.

obviously a new shock would be higher coz its new, old shock had adapted and wore out thus started sitting on the height which u are used to

Is this amateur hour?

It won't sit like a 4x4 with the correct shocks. Once driven in you'll maybe be 2mm lower that's it.
