I think he mentioned he is in namibia or somewher so coming to me pretty much wasn't an option. But yes it requires tuning. The ignition map is also really uglly

yeah im in Nelspruit, i definately do need to get it tuned properly, the changes did make the starting a bit quicker, but it still seems to be mildy flooding, as there is still black smoke at start, but very little, much less than before.

I am going to look into coming up to give you a visit Stephan, just need to organise a few things. But where you at?

Isnt there maybe someone closer to Nelspruit that anyone knows that could help me with the tuning?? , as the people i bought the golf from most probably tried tuning it themselves.

Ja look it's difficult if you don't have a wide band Lamda you are pretty mutch running around in the dark. Thats what makes the XMS5 sutch a bloody nice system. If it still looks ritch lean it out a bit more you can't really do any harm if you get it a little lean at that RPM. Higher up the RMP range and under load thats where you can do damage.

What you could also do is pull the dipstick out and smell the oil if it's thinner than normal and smells of fuel you know that it's running rich and in that case I would also rather not drive it up here.

Re: Help with Dicktator

If it improved things then take out more. The bottom row is really only startup so too lean can do no damage at all as all it will do is struggle to start then so at that stage go richer.
Sorry i don't know anybody in nelspruit that can help you. That does not mean there isn't somebody it's just that i don't know of anybody.

I did get it started a few times but it only runs for a day or 2 until I have to remove plugs heat it up regap and reinstall until I get it started again its certainly getting enough of fuel because car is over fuelling spark is there but abit weak coilpack is only 3 months old after putting in a new coil it ran for a week then troubled again. Can you tell if anything is majorly wrong with the map in the pics

Also I did try the base map, I did tweak it abit but just the basics such as trigger angle and ignition map between 250-750rpm. With the map that I currently have it (the pics I posted) it almost catches and that's the same one I used when I started the car a few times but with abit of tweaking here and there.

So take some fuel out. It's obviously overfuelling. Why not just get it tuned properly?

Re: Help with Dicktator

I did get it tuned before by a highly rated tuning shop but that's when I started having trouble with the car I bought it like a month before getting it tuned the previous owner said it needs to be tuned but the car ran fine until I got it tuned so I contacted the tuner and he was being really arrogant and denied to retune it so after that I didn't take it back

Ok so maybe try somebody else less highly regarded...
Honestly I
A) don'tknow what you know - ie do you understand the nubers in the fuelling map - do you know how to reduce them
b) do you own something like a wideband lambda gauge so you can see what the fuelling is doing.

Without that you are kinda screwed and will have to depend on some sort of place that can help you. Of course no indiscation of location either so can't even begin to give you a reference

I can't answer that. Not being able to see what the fuelling is doing with NO refence data it's not even remotely possible to tell you that.
but you can take it down till it stops running and then add some.
If you want to self tune you better understand what an engine need and have at the very minimum have and air/fuel ratio gauge of some sort.

So like lean it out until there's barely enough fuel and then add some?

click on the block you want to tune and press the down arrow on your keyboard. There is a help file on your mangemen disc that shows the basics of that. or you can download it from dictator's website. I kinda think you are a bit out of your depth here. I recon some durban guys would be able to give you a refence of somebody that can help you. Sadly no matter where you go you will have to pay for somthing. No tuner even if he has tuned it before is simply going to retune it for free because of the time passed and if it was not you that owned the car originally.
