panic-mechanic wrote:Pluto have you done a map for mp9 on longish cams? Would have been interesting as an exercise but that mp9 in billybob's car threw a total hissy fit as soon as the cams went in. You could almost not drive the car and it would'nt even rev past 5000 rpm let alone idle. Hence the descision to fit the AFM since one can kind of half ignore the vacuum(or total lack of it) that the cams present.
Of course I also dropped the distributor(that was leaking oil in any case) and put it on wasted spark while we were at it. Will get it back on the dyno for another run once the lambda tuning had a bit of time to do it's thing and see if it looks better at the bottom.
PM ,

Yeah I have for the following

Stock ABF (Reef and Coast)
ABF with 268/272
ABF with 268/272 and flowed head
ABF with 272/276 , flowed head and other bits

BillyBob did mention that the car went simply nutters , but that can be a whole wost of other issues which just exasperate the fact that the map was out .

Actually , a 16V idles and behaves pretty decently on mp9 , more than pretty decent dare I say.

I have found that on longish cams I can get approx 400 mb on ilde , which is decent enuf .. Fiddle the compensation and correction maps a bit , even the VE map and its real smooth.

Ok so my build is over, well till the next gremlin crawls its way in my head. lol

Perfect power XMS4B installed and running 60-1.
Was on Panics Dyno on the weekend and made 117hp

She is running very well and the speedo just climbs at a alarming rate.

I just need to install the lambda probe and driving is going to be great.

Big thanks to Panic a job well done.

Will post latest pics and a vid soon as I have downloaded them to my pc.

I promise you 117 on that dyno on an extremely hot day like saturday is absolutely awesome. She must be a lot of fun to drive. It's a pleasure. Once the Lambda is in you'll also see nice consumption numbers although it should be not too bad currently. I'm happy that you are happy. although they take a bit of time to set up they are awesome systems once right.

Funny enough I let my brother take it for a drive and I passenger. I KAKED  myself on how fast it feels as a passenger. hahaha  Must be cause I can actually concentrate on the speedo and not fight the little bit of torque steer it has.

Wasn't all that hard as I thought it would be.
the hardest was finding one in working order and the plugs for the back of it. I was lucky to find the plugs.

I was not liking the std cluster at all nearly changed the entire dash till I found it fitted in there.
Not sure how true or easy it is but I hear the mk3 fits. lol

Damn I like that engine :)

What size wheels and brakes you have on the car?

I wonder what KW and NM a ABF Mk1 would make here in CPT with standard ABF, Branch, 57 or 50mm pipe and Perfect Power Management, what you guys think? And running the AUG G/Box though.

Also what power gains would a person see without headwork +- on the ABF's with only a change in cams.

I love it every time I drive it. I drove it to East London last week for a week. Went beautiful, I will move just to have your altitude. that thing was mad fast there.

Im running on 15" velo wheels.

You should get around 140HP ATW. I got 117HP and 158NM ATW @ panics dyno that is quite gd on his.
I have a stock ABF with branch and 50mm zorst.

Cams dont really give massive gains, you will get like 2hp more, slightly less NM but your power curve stays in peak a bit longer.
It depends on if you want a daily performer or a track screamer really!

change the crank to longer stroke (100mm - goodluck on price here) and bore the motor to the max (over 84.0mm) which will give you 2217cc.

there is also a 98mm stroke for sale on forum and with 84mm pistons gives 2172cc but goodluck on finding the right piston combo

You need about R30 k to bring the bits in or about R80k for a complete motor.
