Vw polo git 1.8 t cuts off and won't start

Post by rayboroko1 »

Good day

I hope I'm writing this thread on the correct space...
Please assist I'm driving a vw polo gti 1.8T 2007 model. The car was fixed recently after it snapped a timming belt. After everything was done the car starts and idle perfectly but if you drive it for longer distance it just cuts and the motor stops with the instrument cluster still on not showing and warning lights.. After a minute or two it starts normally and drives for couple of killos and the process repeats over and over... And you can smell petrol from the inside as well as outside... I took it to be scanned and it shows no faults....
Please assist

My Polo Gti 9n3 Uses to cut and stutter when hot ,Also Hot /Warm starting was an issue .Turns out it was the crank sensor in the front of the engine block. Its magnetic so it stopped working once it got warm . Simple fix just need small hands to get between the radiator and engine block . I also didn't get any warming lights ,just lack of power and rough idle. So check that out .
Part was +-R600 at Goldwagen

Also check your ground cable from the body to the battery. These models love to break that cable at the body ground point . Make sure it hasnt already torn the lug
