G6 GTi Exhaust advice
Hoping someone who has previous experience with this can assist
After going K04 i would like to upgrade my exhaust
Here are my options
76mm thru out with 1 box in the centre
Cut off the muffler and Y pipe it?
Next recommended by Powerflow (they say have good experience with this exhaust)
Cut off after resonator with split to 50mm or 63mm Y pipe with 2 small boxes before tailpipes
Ive read up that 76mm is overkill for the power im making and its just a waste?
So any boys here who has been thru this please advise and if you can quote what power you gained with you upgrade

Re: G6 GTi Exhaust advice
It is true that 76mm is overkill but for the price difference and if you have the space there's no harm going 76mm , I would recommend that the downpipe is 76mm for heat and performance Reasons , rest of exhaust doesn't matter and gain is small.
The one box setup Will be louder and the 2 box at the end Will be deeper

it's your preference at the end of the day , some can live with no boxes on their daily's that makes loud over run pops and bangsShaff wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 3:25 pmICE King wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 3:03 pm It is true that 76mm is overkill but for the price difference and if you have the space there's no harm going 76mm , I would recommend that the downpipe is 76mm for heat and performance Reasons , rest of exhaust doesn't matter and gain is small.

What you think of those should i do it or should i get 1 upgraded back box instead
I did do the Y pipe in 63mm on both ends

Re: G6 GTi Exhaust advice
Oh and yes i already have the downpipe on in 76mm
My issue is not for sound qaulity but more pointed to performance

Re: G6 GTi Exhaust advice
The reason for a bigger DP is to lower the exhaust gas temps , by getting the hot air faster away from the turbo , it allows the tuner more room to tune for more power while retaining reliability at the same time, it will make a small difference in sound over stock DP when not tuned, but once tuned , you'll hear all kinds of awesome turbo noises hence why the DP goes hand in hand when a car is tuned but it does not really make your actual exhaust note louder, the amount/type/placement of exhaust boxes will determine how loud or silent the exhaust note is.

Re: G6 GTi Exhaust advice
Thanks for this, is it worthwhile to go for a cat-less down pipe or not really?

So this is the current setup i have the Dzv milled in on the turbo housing
So i thought when i go K04 ill get awesome turbo noises but its still the same maybe a little louder i can here the turbo spooling lekker but not dumping the way i want it
Is it because i have a closed air intake, i do have the latest revision DV on

Re: G6 GTi Exhaust advice
The DV milled onto the housing will cause it to be much quieter than a relocated K04, coupled with a closed intake you might find it difficult making "tsu tsu tsu" noises. In terms of exhaust, 76mm DP and 76mm till the Y followed by 63mm piping is more than sufficient - speak to a knowledgeable exhaust shop like TMSS mentioned earlier - Please don't go to these IG famous noise boys who like pops and bangs
