Error code P2096 and P2196 (pending)

Hi all.

Engine light came on the A4 and scanned her.

Error code P2096 (stored) was logged and then Pending P2196 but had not logged the error as yet. No software.

I do have a downpipe installed with CAT foolers on the sensors. I have also found a small hole near the rear sensor that i need to fix. Will take it and have it done next week.

Could these errors be caused by the hole in the downpipe?

it could be, those codes indicate a lean condition and incorrect af mixtures.

fix the hole clear codes and see

P2096:

Low fuel pressure
Misfire condition
Large vacuum leak
Air leak near sensor
Plugged catalytic converter
Lean air/fuel ratio
Faulty front O2 sensor



P2196:

Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
Inappropriate fuel pressure
Faulty fuel injectors
Intake air leaks may be faulty
Vacuums leaks

Thought so.

Car going in tomorrow morning.

Going to fix hole and replace cat fooler.

Let’s see if this sorts it out.

Turns out it was the cat fooler.

First fixed the hole in the DP but left the fooler in.

Engine light kept coming back.

Replaced cat fooler and problem solved.
