Check Engine light

Post by Williaml »

G'day all.
2014 Golf 7 GTI 135000km.
Medical history: Hijacked at 2 months/Recovered . Software remap end-2017/Busted turbo (already repaired) and engine (Now awaiting engine rebuild- saving up).
The check engine light has come on again, and is staying on.
It came on just before the 120k service. VW cancelled the light, but did not say there was anything of concern. I seem to recall the service advisor saying something about the decat (DP), but then I forgot about it, as the light was now gone. I had the 135k service done at Racing Technik (figured that's where the rebuild will be done in the future). Says the fault that was erased is the O2 sensor, and wants to charge R7.7k to fix. However, when asked if it could be related to the decat, says it's possible.
I'm loath to spend R7k if the fault actually lies elsewhere.
The car is also drinking much more fuel than before.
I booked the car in for Wednesday.
Any advice is appreciated, so I go there as informed as possible.
Thanks.
Will

I had this issue on my G6, vw never really figured out what the issue was. Had the lambda sensor and intake manifold replaced and this still persisted.

In the end, my tensioners failed (most likely unrelated) and only after a new engine did the light go away.
