MKV Fuel problems

Post by Jacques1397 »

Hi Guys,

Issues on my MKV. Started randomly, having no power after a run or 2. Sounds like the car suffers from low fuel.

Scanned, got a P310B-002 error - Low Fuel Pressure.

I cleared the logs, then it was fine again, Tested took it for a run - Noticed when car gets hot or up to heat, low pressure pump runs on idle 70 percent increasing to 90 and car sounds like it doesn't get petrol with a slight rough idle.

Replaced fuel filter, issue still there. Error will come up after a 10km drive, after that doesn't get petrol and possibly going limp mode

All I have left to think is maybe the low pressure pump ?

Check the following items on the fueling side:
- Cam follower for wear
- What is the actual fuel pressures on the high pressure and rear pump requested and actual?

Does the car have any mods?

Car has mods - K04

Checked follower. All fine. High Pressure pump gets 130+ Bar as needed. Seems like if the low pressure pump gets hot, it starts to struggle. Running at 90% Load on idle. If it cools down overnight / cooler temps. Then the car runs well again ?

When checking the follower, check the "plunger" thing. Slightest wear on that surface and you will have a fuel pressure drop as well.

Sound like the low pressure pump can't keep up. have a look at that pressure - should stay at around 5.5 bar odd under heavy foot usage.
