I know this is off topic here please don't hate me. LOL

I am sitting here wondering the cost of maintenance cost of a TT 1.8t. Is parts freely available from your common parts shop, lets use Goldwagen for example?

I know the 8L S3 can burn holes in some wealthy peoples pockets. LOL

GREAT BUILD BY THE WAY. Ill be keeping an eye on this one.

This is the first local 20V motor I've seen with the double cam pulley conversion. Prior to yours I have only seen one in a video on VWVortex.

Please if you don't mind, I'm curious about this change and why you prefer it vs a stock system.

Thanks

Hi,

Going with the dual venier setup for many reasons:
1) Getting rid of the STD VCT (Variable Cam Timing)
2) Got Aftermarket cams in so would need to fine tune the Cam Timing and its terrible to do it any other way (have to remove tappet cover and what tuner would love you for that).
3) It works really well for the NA guys so should work even better on the Turbo engines.
4) The pricing I see on the forum are waaaaayyyy out lol (Its cheaper than whats been said here)

So the amount I spent on the engine then taking the dual setup into consideration its fine. But on a normal small build with say 300kw cant see much benefit.

Oh and there are plenty plenty 20v dual vernier setups.
Look at the GTI Challenge or Polo Cup and most rally 20v cars have it.
They push 180kw - 190kw NA

We busy building up a kit now but uses some very special custom pistons and a longer con rod to get our rod to stroke ratio from a measly 1.55 up to a 1.6.

The piston is shorter and lighter plus the con rod is based on a very solid design. The nice part is that it can be used for 8v High Comp 16v Low com 9:1 and 20v engines.
