1.8T maf signal too high
Hi guys
I'm having this issue since I installed a new turbo..
Iv checked for boost leaks n vac leaks... Non noticed..
I have change the maf to check and the same thing...
Car pulls fine right uptill 5k rpm n then boost falls flat on its face.. Change gear boost spikes again nicely n again at about 5k rpm boost falls...
Error comes up with maf signal too high...
What else could be the issue???

Yeah most likely you reached the limit of the maf. Change to a 3" housing and scale software accordingly.

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
What car is this? or is this a 1.8t engine that has been transplanted to another body?
Is it a audi 1.8t, Golf 4 Gti, Polo Gti?
This would help alot

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Are your ESP or ABS lights on?
The replacement MAF you used to test, how sure are you its working 100%? are you getting the exact same readings with it?
you running cone filter to MAF or closed airbox to MAf?

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Zeyn. Try the 3" Maf housing bro.
Guys it is not reading a MAF signal too low (which is **** maf)
its reading Maf signal too high, IE flowing too much air for the MAF.
for the 1.8T Guru's, could the maf sitting at the wrong angle do this?

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Yes asc light comes on and as I leave the accelarator the light goes away.. But throws an error as signal too high...
The maf I tried is a brand new maf (bosch)
I had the cone filter in the box... Then I changed it an relocated it to the front with a flexi pipe attached to the maf housing...
But still same error comes up

I'm hitting around 188 flow... Is this the max the maf can read with the standard housing ??PoloGti wrote:I agree with this!!!Killerwatt wrote:Yeah most likely you reached the limit of the maf. Change to a 3" housing and scale software accordingly.

This is where i was heading towards asking if he is running cone or airbox.boost'd wrote:Zeyn. Try the 3" Maf housing bro.

If the angle on the maf id wrong and not exactly angled as if connected onto the airbox the car will hit limp mode. been there and done that. and im also not sure if that will cause it to read high but will cause soft limp mode for a couple of seconds.

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
you can either install airbox or just align the maf with the airbox position and then clamp it to the TIP.
Plug should sit around the 11 o'clock position.
If this still does not work, unplug the maf and see if you still hit limp mode. By unplugging the MAF, the ECU will use base values and run off that.
So might rule out if its maf or too small housing.
Cant remember 100% but im almost sure the last time i logged my car i ran around the same air flow volume as you, will check again this afternoon.

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Yes, wont do anything.
As i said, the ECU uses a base value on the ECU if it does not pic up your MAF.
Usually when you suspect a faulty maf, you unplug it and drive with it and if no difference in power is seen then you have a faulty maf.

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Cool bud, keep us updated.
I once bought a brand new cone and silicone bends and clamps and had the issue going into limp mode the whole time, put the airbox back and all was fine and sold the kit. then after reading up and confirming it was the angle of the MAF being wrong all along!

Yes Boost'd also mentioned this to me last night..... This could prob be the reason.. Cos when I put the new turbo it was always going into limp... Then something happened n the turbo had to come out.... After the turbo was installed again then this maf signal error keeps coming up...

Re: 1.8T maf signal too high
Actually 188g/s is the limit on these mafs.
Thats alot of air for the k03s though.
can you take a pic of the setup? just go with a bigger maf but make sure software is adjusted for the bigger maf housing.
