MK2 CSL 8V ITB PROJECT

Post by Just a little 8v »

Hi there fellow volkswagen family!

I am new to the forum & this is my very first build!

I've got a MK2 Golf csl (HM block) which i want to convert to crossflow itb. I'd really like to keep the HM block and bore it out to fit my build with a 1.9 tdi crankshaft.

So far these are all the goodies I've gotten for my build :

• Mexico 8valve crossflow cylinder head ( From golf 4 1.6 SR)
• 298 ° camshaft + vernier pully .
• Billet intake & exhaust valves.
• complete rev kit ( inner & outer valve springs) with seats &
retainers.
• new Hydraulic lifters.
• Rowland itb manifold to fit toyota 4age 20v itb's.
• 1.9 TDI Crankshaft

My questions are:

• what size injectors would fit my build ?

• will the 1.9 TDI Crankshaft work in my HM block?

• If yes to the above question , which pistons & conrods should i
use to get the best compression for my itb set up?

• If no , which block , conrods & piston combination should i use ?

• which itbs should i use from the 4age , 45mm or 43mm ?

• I also understand that i need to block off some oil & water ports
on the mexico cylinderhead in order to fit my block , how would i
be able to tell the machining shop which ones to block off?

• will my standard intermediate shaft work? If so do i have to
change the pully on the intermediate shaft? Or the entire
intermediate shaft itself?

• which distributor do i use considering i am going to use diktator
60 - 2?

• is an oil cooler necessary? If so which oil cooler do i use ?

• Which head gasket would suit my build best considering im
looking for higher compression seeing it is an itb set up ?

I need all the 8 valve guru's advice here! , this is my first build and
It's been a very exciting & interesting journey so far. I'd really
appreciate all advice given!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Wishing everyone a very blessed festive & safe driving ✨ 🙏 😊!
