Relocation to Secunda with my 8v

Post by Jazzyfizzer »

Good day guys,

I trust that you are well. I currently reside in Durban and I'm planning to move up to Secunda. My vehicle is a citi golf fitted with the following:
2.0 Ady motor stock bottom end
1mm skimmed off stock head
U flow Rowland intake (flowed by fastcar)
43mm Toyota individual throttle bodies
Standard mp9 injectors
4 into 2 into 1 branch with 50-57mm progressive exhaust
288 estas camshaft and vernier

My car makes 145bhp at speedshop durban. I wanted to know if i would be able to drive my car up to mpumalanga as is? Also, would the car run very flat at higher altitude? Who's the best tuner that side? Does dicktator have altitude compensation running on tps only?

Do n/a cars generally run higher ignition timing at altitude?

I'm not chasing power, just want a reliable tune with something that's not gonna make noise and that polo vivo flies past me

Your feedback is highly appreciated.

NA engines will lose 17% of their power at altitude.
Secunda is 1620m above sea level, so your car will lose around 24 Hp up here.

You can drive your car up to Secunda, just have it tuned properly by someone like Panic in Benoni (100km from Secunda).

As far as I know, less ignition timing up here.

No problem.
93 or 95, your choice.. It won't really make any difference, unless the motor is a very high compression setup, then 95 will be slightly better.
But.... that will depend on tuning at the end of the day.
