Good day All,
my camper (1977 with 2l VW petrol engine) recently started using oil and there is also blue smoke which fortunately subsides somewhat when the engine gets hot. Her performance is still great and there is not really a loss of power.
When opening up my mechanic found that cylinder #4 has a ridge, it is also wet and the ring and bearing need replacement. The other 3 cylinders are not too bad. The valve stem seals are also shot and the cylinder head gasket needs replacement.
my mechanic is looking for the following specs:
1. Piston to cylinder wall clearance.
2. Ring Gap clearance. and wear limit.
3. Big end bearing cap bolt torque nm.
4. Cam bearing cap bolt torque nm.
5. valve clearance (hydrolic).
6. Piston size std mm. 82.485?
Bore of cylinder std mm.
If someone could perhaps help - I consulted some online manuals, but could not find these specs. I did find the bolt torque.
Also another question, could I replace only the ring on cylinder #4?
Thank you very much!

Never do a quarter job on an engine rebuild.
