2.0L8V with 83.5mm pistons

Post by Megan84klassen »

Hi guys maybe this topic has been answered a million times but can't seem to find any info on it. I redid my 2.0l 8v motor

1. 83.5mm miata pistons
2. Gasflow with 288cam and vinier pulley
3. Standard bottom
4. Spitronics management

The engine starts up, but won't idle what should I do regarding the cam timing and how should the distributor advance or retard. Any help would be so much appreciated. Tuner told me to just advance the cam 2 to 3 degrees but still no luck.

hello!

take it back to the tuner, no tuner worth their salt can give you a car back in this state.

back to the issue at hand, this can also be a fuel related problem. I don't have real-world experience with setting timing with the distributor so won't comment on that.

Problem is I only literally started the engine Monday night. I was never at the tuner he only told me over the phone to advance 2 to 3 degrees for me to drive in the motor before I can dyno. It sound promising just after 1,500 then it sounds like a motor should. If I can just get someone that did this conversion to iron that issue out for me

Advance/retard the distributor timing, and try and get it to idle.
