Good day I have a friend who was told by a repair shop in January that his clutch needs to be replaced, the car went in for a normal service nothing evident that the clutch is going, at a price of R8000, is that the normal price for clutch jobs on these cars......

no info on the engine if it is diesel or petrol.
R8000 is still reasonable if it is clutch kit and labor at a RMI approved workshop.
My 1.4 tsi clutch kit was R4000 excluding labor many years ago.

Some people don't know that there is something wrong with their car until the actual wheels fall off or something goes boom catastrophically. So might not even know that the clutch is going.
That being said, it's never a bad idea to get a second opinion from another workshop.
