Gearbox concerns

Post by danielsda »

Hi

I need some professional advise. I made a conversion from a 1.4 carb engine to a 2l 8v with still the 5speed ffz gearbox fitted. When I accelerate fast the revs go up but the car is not going faster. Is the gearbox the problem because it was for a 14l carb engine? Should I buy a 2l gearbox instead?

Tnx

Its the clutch man. its the link between the engine and gearbox. Its slipping because you are making way way waaaay too many HP's lol

did you upgrade to the 210mm flywheel from a 1.8? that could also be part of the reason its slipping...

Does that advice make a pro now

Hi. Thanks for replying.
I think I hsve to check out the spec of the 2l flywheel. I have a suspicion that the guy who did the conversation used the Citi 1400 engine's parts on the 2l motor. I'm not sure...
Also, I want to check out the clutch kit as well.

Can I top up with gearbox oil using the thin
piepie with the black cap?

No.

The filler plug is on the end closest to the left wheel and is accessible from there.

Best if the at is level.

I have fitted a 210mm flywheel and the car's performance is waaay better. Only problem now, the motor or gearbox or both is shaking like hell when the car is in 1st or 2nd gear. What seems to be the problem this time around?
