2L 8V
Hi guys.
Dropped a 2l 8v in my velo recently.
Work done:
New pistons- 82.5 20 thou
Flowed head with 276 Estas cam
Viper branch 42 mm - 57 mm powerflow pipe
Chipped box MP9
Dyno the other day at 97 kw in northern KZN.
Has anyone else done similar mods and then went throttles and perhaps knows their dyno numbers?
Asking to get an idea if something is wrong or not .

Hey man, doesnt sound like anything is wrong. 97kw is fine for the mods you have. You might get some gains with an aftermarket management but that also depends on the tuner.

If you want more then stop looking at an 8V.Mishay99 wrote:Thanks for the insight guys .
How much more to expect with throttles and dictator ? Also what size do I use ?
Also will it run better with a bigger cam / split cam ?
16 or 20 valves is then the way forward for N/A power.
On the other hand a nice hairdryer can double the current figures on your existing motor.
Any which way you will need to increase the complexity of the engine in some manner for power gains to occur. This will negatively impact on reliability and daily dependability. This will also massively escalate the costs involved regardless of your chosen direction.
Assess your needs vs your budget vs your desire for power. Do a comparison and decide from there what the best way forward should be.
When the plan comes into motion, post lots of pictures of the work and the results.

Mines makes 105 kw and 202nm with Gotech and 288 cam, also durban....Im also wanting to add throttles, but more for the noise and not chasing the numbers. If it make even 5kw more I'll be happy, as long as the noise is similar to what I had with my sidies.

Re: 2L 8V
Are those numbers ATW readings or thumbsucked ATF readings?

Re: 2L 8V
Did a quick search. That 8v made that power at a dyno day back in 2015.
Seems like a very very costly excercise to get an 8v to that amount of power.

Re: 2L 8V
Where about are you located and who is tuning for you?
I'm sure you can do some added work on the motor to get it over the 100kw mark.
Also, who did the flowing for you? You can do bigger valves, bigger cam, etc. ITB's would give you nice gains also but probably try to do it with a crossflow head.
The fast 8v's in Durban making 120kw plus are really modified and running meth/mix hence they running 11's and 12's. I think the Durban 8v is the fastest aspirated 8v in the country (if not the World).

I am not 100% sure about fastest 8v in the country or the world, I think that belongs to a CPT 8v.Tashveer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 12:11 pm Where about are you located and who is tuning for you?
