Sparking issues

Post by Kyle28rsa »

I recently redid my motor and nearly everything has been replaced. I did a test on ignition by removing one bogey cord at a time to test if there is spark. Engine bogs down when removing 3 of the 4 cords. When i remove cylinder 2's cord there is no change in idle.

Things ive done are as follows:
Replaced spark plugs
Replaced all bogey cords
Replaced dizzy cap and rotor

Is there anything else i can do to resolve this

Engine specs are
2l 8v ady
276 cam
Ported and gas flowed

Note that tuning was not done to air fuel mixture yet

Does it spark on cyl 1 and 2? I assume the car is misfiring? Have you checked the injectors on 1 and 2?

If you don’t have spare injectors, swap 2 around and check if fault has moved.

Did you test the compression and compared cylinders pressure readings?

Thank you. Now that the car is running. There is heavy pressure coming out of the exhaust. Is it good or a bad thing? And also if i leave the cars tuning on standard while i have a 276 cam in would it cause any issues?

If you are using the std 45-51mm exhaust system, that will cause some pressure. For a 2L it is advisable to use 57mm exhaust system as a minimum.

The pulsation from the 276 duration cam will also contribute to more pressure felt at the rear. Not to worry.

Yea the exhaust still standard. Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully keeping the ecu standard wont cause any issues
