Hi, new to this forum, and hoping someone can can help me figure out why my windscreen washer isn't working anymore.
My first thought was that the pump itself had failed, but I tested the voltage going to the pump when activated, and it's only around 0.5v. I also thought maybe it could be the fuse, but the wipers share the same fuse and they work perfectly.
It used to work intermittently, so I thought maybe the pump had gotten blocked or was failing. Now I don't know.
Does anyone perhaps have some insight on what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance, and please let me know if there's any additional info you need regarding this issue.

Does the pump use a relay at all?

Re: Golf MK1 (1996 Citigolf) Windscreen washer problem.
I had a similar problem on my Chico. First I noticed that when using the wiper stalk to activate the wiper washer, it was working intermittently or not at all. At first I tested the pump by replacing it with the one of the rear screen water reservoir in the boot, as I thought the pump was on its way out. I knew the rear washer was working, as pushing the stalk forward activated the wiper and pump. When I got similar symptoms, I zoomed in on the stalk assembly. It turned out to be oxidation on the contacts. I used a small screwdriver to clean off the oxidation and it works again. If I recall correctly, I took off the cowling around the steering wheel to free up some space, but the job itself was simple enough as the contacts are visible.panic-mechanic wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:12 pm so have you tried putting 12v on the pump?. if it sprays then you can maybe check your cluster switch.
