Polo 6N 1.8 MP9 wont idle.

Evening all.

Got a buddy with a 1998 Polo classis. 1.8 MP9.

Car was running fine until it refuses to idle one morning.

Immediatly thought it was the Temp sensor so replaced it but still wouldnt idle.

Unplugged the MAP sensor, car would idle so assumed it was MAP sensor. We replaced it and still the same issue.

Car will not idle by itself.

We have checked for air leaks, broken wiring, replaced sparks plugs, checked rotor and cap and also replaced the coil.

Could it be TPS or FPR?

What else can you recommend we check?

Swop the throttle body. Do a calibration.

How does one calibrate the TB? With VAGCOM?

I would first try cleaning on the inside of the throttle body.

That almost never ends well. I know of more dead tb's from being cleaned than I know that benefitted.

True Panic , suppose one has to be careful

Bro had the same idling issue(car would switch off when revs got too low, he needed to hold the gas pedal to keep the car idling) on his MP9 Citi , We also replaced MAP sensor with no success , after spraying some carb cleaner down the throttle body's throat and a quick wipe , car started to idle perfectly again.

We couldn't believe it was that simple ,
