Hi guys
First problem encountered with this car. From a day or 2 ago,as it reaches operating temperature, it tends to jerk and switch off. If not that, then the rpm drops low and rises. It has now started failing to rise back up. But this only happens when heat gauge is just near 90°. I have checked the 30 relay as well as all other fuses.
I have seen other gtis with the same rpm drop then rise. Figured it may be normal. But now, mine drops and then cannot come back up.
Does anybody know what else I can do before I get the 4 pin temp sensor ?
Response appreciated.

Re: '95 MK3 Golf GTi intermittent switch-off.
Some info on vehicle - 148000km. I am the second owner. 135000km service was done by VW. Everything on the vehicle is original except the wheels, lighting, and exhaust system. I have done an oil change a month ago along with plugs. Old plugs didn't seem used however, I had replaced them. I haven't changed the fuel filter as yet. New shocks all around. Car is in great condition with all electronics functioning.
I am just saddened by this intermittent switch off.

95 should be digifant.
check the relay 32 to make sure it works and sends power to the ecu.
Could be related to the idle motor being dirty or not working right.
unlug the idle motor's electric plug and see if it gets worse. if not it's basically not working.

You may unplug the TPS and see how it drives. Faulty TPS gave us a headache on MK3 GTi. Just check

Hi all,
Late response.
Cleaned throttle body and tps with throttle body cleaner, idling issue resolved. Keep in mind, this needs to be done on a regular basis.
Thanks for all inputs.
