AUG ratios aren't that long and is one of the better ratio gearboxes particularly if you have a 1.6 and anove capacity. The issue here is that, it's a small capacity engine and will always battle up hills with passengers

Consider a simple 1.8 carb engine swop to keep things cheap and simple. A fuel injected motor would be ideal however higher cost factors associated with this conversion

Thank you yes trying to search 1600 or 1800 carb convertion as FI will cost me to much and i can just sell my car ad the difference and buy a 1.4i or something so comparing costs so far a 1600 carb swop will cost me less than R5000

1800 swop is better.

Not saying 1600 isn't nice, but if you going to do it go big or go home. My one mate had an 1800 sport Citi golf and my other friends had a 1600 Fox back when I was an Appy, the Sport was lighter on fuel every time on the long road. The Fox had a slightly higher top end.

As luck would have it, I happen to have a complete 1800 carb motor lying on the floor in my garage. Needs a bit of a clean up and an oil change, new cambelt wouldn't hurt either. As far as I know should start right up.

I'm based in Bryanston too. Let me know if you want to come have a look.
