Urgent help needed Golf 2.0l ady conversion no start

Post by Wolfman04 »

Bought a 2.0l ady import engine for my vw citi golf Engine rotates difficult feels like its working against its compression or has high compression.
When I tried to crank the engine my starter cables will get hot and there will come smoke out of them. The engine cranks but it crank extremly slow and difficult. I tried higher amp battery and it will drain it in a few secs.
When I take the spark plugs out it rotates easily no problem.
Timing marks align perfectly
Compression test results is 11 7 11 11
What can be the cause of this?

Compression on no 2 cylinder is low and should be atleat 9,5. Take motor back to where you bought it and ask for an exchange unit.

I am too far away from the place I bought it. So I thought it might be less hassle to fix it instead. A friend bought and brought it too me. I did wet cylinder test on no 2 cylinder and the compression lowered to 6 bar.

In that case, if you don’t take it back you have to strip and check what is wrong. Bear in mind once you started to open motor and say for instance found there is a cracked sleeve or hole in the head or deep groove in sleeve wall, you will not be able to exchange it.

Rather contact the seller and give him your findings and take it from there.
