Head work on 2l 8v

Post by sheheen29 »

Hi Guys

Planning to get some decent head work done on my current 8v motor, not sure as to what's need to be done. Some guys I spoke to reckoned to do big valve is it reliable and is there any difference?

Any recommendations for someone reputable to have it done around the Durban area?

The amount of cash you are intending to spend on a NA setup you might as well go turbo and get more power even at low boost for reliability

How much cash do you assume?

No need for big valves unless you plan on running high compression and over 300 degree camshaft.

Ok cool. So would you suggest something like gas flowing and porting? Will there be any difference in power?

To run a proper power making N/A motor, you will have to raise the CR. To do that, guys normally skeam the head and go flat top pistons perhaps with a lightend crank. You obviously require some headwork which can include a bigger cam, porting + flowing, valve kit etc.

I have considered both options and for the amount you will be spending on an N/A setup, you can make reliable power with a turbo on low boost.

It remains your choice afterall.

You can only make some much power on pump fuel , these kind of mods requires higher octane fuel to get the most out of it , End of the day you'll fully NA modded 8 valve that will be pinging on pump fuel and that will be the end of the motor.

Leave the CR stock if you don't plan to use higher octane fuel - mod very thing around it.
