2L head on 1.8L block

Post by JTL »

Hi guys Im new here

Just need some advice Im running Carb with a 1.8 block and 2.0L 8v head.
Wanna know if what must i do if i wanna fit a supercharger with 36 dcd carb?

My motor was done recently by myself and runs great. I have increased the bore size.

What i would like to know is :
Do i need to port my head?
Do i need to put a stronger gasket on?
What pulleys do i need?

drop compression ratio for a start. port head not needed to be able to run it.
pulleys will depend on the charger. no way we can just tell you like that with NO info.
suck through carb setup with charger. yeah really not ideal.

Okay so how much do you guys think it would cost to fit mp9 with management?

I'm already running EFI head?
Must I upgrade My tank?
And what will my end cost be like with tuning and everything?

Honestly you are not supplying enough info for any of the answers you expect back.
But as i said the otehr day R60k to 80k for a properly executed turbo conversion and it will be roughly the same for supercharging.

Must I upgrade My tank? I dont see you mentioning what car you have?
And what will my end cost be like with tuning and everything? do you already have the fuel rail, injectors, management?

Yes it will but not by much. You will need a new non vacuum distributor. Management will set you back another R4k, gaskets and engineering for the new head will come to the price of a import 2L engine. You will get way more power with a 2L then you would with the 1.8. Much more torque aswell. What is the condition like of your 1.8?

Ok then go for it. Should pick up a few kw's and improve driveability. Fuel injection is better in every way.

Will work fine, get the 2ltr head gasket set, exhaust may need more clearance if it's a long block, rather upgrade the exhaust system so the 2ltr can breath better if so
