I too had an idling issue with my 2009 Mk1. Turns out it was to do with the charcoal filter thing after the petrol hoses were replaced. I asked vw to replace them (the ones to and from fuel filter) because they started cracking.

If I may ask, 3 owners for a 2010 model with low mileage? Did you ask why?
I also see you have a different battery. Any reason why this was replaced? Batteries should give at least 5 years with proper care under normal use.

It sounds as though the vehicle was neglected by the previous owners

Hi i just bought a mk1 golf 1.6L carb and was planning on putting a 276 or a 272 cam in it for a pit more power and heard that if you put a cam in you have to chip the car but mine is has a carb... So im not sure if i should still chip it (or if it's even possible)

I'm new to the whole car scene so i don't know much
Help would be appreciated

Start your own thread and ask again instead of reviving a prehistoric thread.

Kudos for using the search function. Use it more and it will probably answer your question.

A 1.6 Citi Golf is plenty quick enough to make trouble, what's your reasoning for installing a camshaft?

I very much suggest that you do more research into how a cam changes the engine characteristics and what that does to the way the car drives.

Last if this car is your daily or only car, rater don't mess with it. Buy a second car and play with that one. If that's not a financially viable solution, I would rather spend the money on improving the health of the vehicle and keeping it safe and reliable.
