Re: power for my 2l 8v
There are many experts in durban that knows how to do that. I'm sure somebody from your home town will pop in with a reference.
Your 50 mm exhaust is a restriction though

Re: power for my 2l 8v
I am running more or less the same setup.
2l but all standard
Throttles
298 cam
Branch
Free flow
Spitronics
Making 103kw. But i believe its tuned conservatively... The engine stops reving at around 5800rpm, belive it can be higher? Maby?

Re: power for my 2l 8v
Is this a wheel kW figure or is the dyno correcting for flywheel?Smiley G wrote:2.0 Ady

Also who did the tune and the power run?
I ask because there are no two dynos that are the same and even doing the run on a cold day vs a warm one can make a big difference.
Post pics of the dyno sheet, it will give more info.
@PanicMechanic will also agree, power figures are more of a guideline and less of an absolute number. There are a number of variables that will affect the final reading from one dyno vs another.
If one excludes the actual dynamometer and how it's set up from the equation, there are a few things that will change your numbers on a given day, such as ambient temperature, fuel temperature, engine temperature, humidity and altitude. All these things affect air density and air density effects power numbers.
I suggest you visit Banks Power on YouTube, they explain all of this very well in an easily understandable way.
I also suggest doing a number of runs over a period of time with different conditions, take the average of all of them.
Finally for an N/A 2.0 8V anything over 100kW is respectable, but if you want to squeeze more from the motor, you need to look at the whole picture as a giant air pump. Examine everything that has to do with moving gasses and work out how to reduce any restrictions and improve gas velocities both entering and leaving the motor.
Good luck and keep us updated with your progress.

Re: power for my 2l 8v
57mm Freeflow and Decent branch should free it up a bit more.
No need to get a bigger pump or injectors.
What power do you think you would be happy with?

Change the exhaust and then see.
Don't see you say anything about bigger valves done to your head, there's some power in there as well

Re: power for my 2l 8v
Hi Guys..
I have just installed a 2l 8v AGG into my 2002 Polo Classic. Still have the original computer box for the 1.6 AFX motor which i removed. I do have a Uni-Chip that was installed in 2007... The car idles rough as was expected and is a little hesitant when pushed a bit (Seems to be fuel starvation) What is my next step.? and is anyone willing to assist me...I am based in JHB (Live in Kempton park / Work in Linksfield).
Please email, Whatsapp or call me

Re: power for my 2l 8v
My 2L 8v ADY MK1 Jetta made 105kw and 202nm @ Autotrix in DBN about 7 years ago, and it was impressive then.
So 103kw is a good number for an 8V.
I have a friend with a Mk1 golf making around 130kw with his 8V, but he has ITB's so maybe consider this option.
Also, maybe lightening the flywheel will give a few more kws, although less torque.

Re: power for my 2l 8v
Really?. not that old wife's tale again. So seeing that you perpetuate it please can you explain to me.
a) the physics of how an inanimate object that is being spun by an engine can create or destroy torque. Please show me which of newton's laws you are using here.
b) how is it possible for something that removes torque can create HP? Please use formulas of how Hp is calculated to display how that is possible assuming the engine is red lined at the same rpm.
Maybe if you use inertia we will be on the right track - not torque and KW.......

Re: power for my 2l 8v
Hence I said Maybe, but Panic knows more and is probably correct.
I would hate going back to my Physics 101 books to attempt to explain, LOL
Lightening Flywheel will just make the car rev up faster and since he is chasing Power on a N/A 8V, I think some big funds need to be spent here...big valve head, raising compression, ITBs, maybe even a cross flow head.
Its hard and expensive just making a few more kws on a N/A 8v, maybe even consider the ABF option if you gonna be spending that much.
Keep us posted.
I am also thinking about ITB's, but more for the noise

Re: power for my 2l 8v
Lighter flywheel makes it more responsive and will help it accelerate faster on the road. The only thing it robs is engine inertia so you have to use a bit more clutch or throttle to pull away. Not something anything but a learner driver will struggle with.
Yes there are lots of other areas of work - all airflow or capacity related. His main complaint is that nobody shares with them in Durban but there must be gazillion posts on this very forum of exactly how and I really don't feel like rehashing years and years of the same info.
In short - in engine is an airpump. put more air in so you can burn more fuel - voila - more power.

Durban tuners that are good: 1) Vino @ Autotrix, 2) Kumaren @ Electroboost, Rino @ Fastcar
What fuel does the car run on? If pump fuel then be happy with that number.

Re: power for my 2l 8v
OK...I am back Guys.. Followup on my 2.0l AGG conversion..
1. Trevor Green remapped my ecu
2. Dastek remapped the unichip..
3. Better
..but not good enough
4. Car pulls well enough to 4500 rpm and seems to starve of fuel..
5. Tech at Dastek says he thinks motor is not getting enouğh air or fuel..
6. I was told that the 1.6 injection manifold and pump would handle the fuel demand.??
7. I have stainless steel branches on for the 1st section and then standard exhaust to the end..
On another topic..
1. My original millenium ediition ecu was stolen so i got hold of an older model one.. The rev counter stopped working.. After Trevor Greene remapped it the Rev Counter works but when i plug in the speedometer sensor the car cuts out as soon as i put my foot on the accelerator. I replaced the sensor on the advice of a chap in Cenurion but that hasn't helped..
Any ideas on resolving these two issues would be greatly appreciated.
