Less power after fixing boost leak - 1.9 TDI

Post by Callum229 »

Hi guys

I've had a weird hissing sound (like induction) from an area by the turbo ever since I got the car, couldn't find a boost leak though.

6 months later, I decided to take out all the boost pipes and check them over, could not find anything wrong besides the pipe coming out the turbo, the clamps had rubbed two massive holes in the metal.

Bought a new pipe, sealed it up.

Noticeable difference in the fuel consumption(about 0.6 litre per 100km less), no weird hissing sound (it did sound cool though like induction noise).

Noticeable difference in boost, it now has torque from low down in the rev range, however power higher up(from 2000rpm) is lower then what it was with the boost leak. There is no surge and it kind of loses boost. Before it felt fast, now it feels slow....

Is this usual or do I have another issue I need to trace? Any ideas? I have checked several times after that, cannot find another boost leak!

No codes on VCDS besides that for the EGR which is disabled.
