1.6tdi polo injectors

Post by PoloB »

Hi All,

Asking for a friend..... Is it possible to upgrade the injectors of a 1.6tdi polo to say 1.9 or 2.0tdi injectors?

Any modifications needed for this or is this possible at all?

Reason asking is injectors on 1.6 are kaput and can find two sets 1.9 94kw and 103kw injectors at very good prices.

Please advise thanx

Sorry bud no can do here due to one simple thing.

1.6TDi is a common rail motor as far as I am aware, the older motors use an entirely different system called Pompe Deuse.

CRD motors use a solenoid to actuate, pressure is provided by a separate pump supplied to the fuel rail connected to the injector. Very similar to petrol injection.

PD injectors make pressure individually with the help of cam lobes on the camshaft. Low pressure fuel is supplied through ports in the head.

Well said.

Can upgrade nozzles which is much cheaper than pd injectors

Send injectors for rebuilding, most probably needs a good cleaning and maybe new nozzles.

PD injectors (1.9 and 2.0 TDI) are housed in the head and are pressurized by the camshaft and the tandem pump. The 1.6 TDI injectors are not pressurized by the camshaft and have an external pump. They are two completely different injectors.

Compatible injectors *might* be the 2.0 tdi injectors from the none PD engines like 2.0 tdi from the MK6 and MK7 series of engines as they are common rail, but have a different flow rate so you might have to get the car tuned for those injectors.
