How's this leak at the turbo

Post by MSD »

So I was at Tyres n More Edenvale. I got good news and bad news.

Good news is my suspension that I just replaced has no issues. A garage in Durban told me I needed shimming on rear suspension. Turns out nothing was wrong.

A quick visual inspection revealed the leak at the turbo. Weird enough the car does not take any oil. Car pulls fine though. Has anyone had anything similar?ImageImage

That looks like it's dripping out the turbo inlet pipe?

When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on :driving:

Will have a look at it this weekend. If so I'm worried how much might be in the intercooler.

Def looks like the TIP. Remember your motor breathes back into the TIP

My advice is have the following things checked.

1. Engine blowby, too much blowby might equal worn-out rings.
2. Turbo might be leaking oil into the intake and most of it might get trapped in the intercooler.

Will have that checked. It's weird because the car doesn't take a drop of oil.

To be dead honest with you, remove TIP and clean it. Remove all boostpipes and clean them, including the cooler. Don’t stress it too much, that looks quite normal to me. These motors do have blowby coming out the breather

lots of videos around on how to drain your intercooler. I made an oil catch can and only had it on for a trip to Durban and back and was very suprised at how much oil was trapped. it is normal
